Default Insane Wind Noise

Hey Guys. I just picked up a 2000 Silverstone S2000. I have a question for you guys. When I'm driving with the top up, even at a low speed of 35-40mph, there is an insane amount of wind noise. I understand that there might be a little wind noise with a convertible but this is insane. The noise gets worse as I drive faster as well. If I'm street driving, I can blast my music and almost avoid hearing the noise, but when I'm on the freeway, theres almost no way around it unless I want my ears to bleed from music.

What I'm wondering is, what would I need to do to fix this. Perhaps some seals or something are worn and need to be replaced? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

-Daniel

if the seals look good, then its most likely loose strikers... you can either tighten them up or get the hardtop strikers... a how to article is right here

Since your from south cali.. The wind noise is probably because of the strong winds lately going against a different direction then your driving..

Thanks DJdorifto! Where can I get some hardtop strikers?

KLEEzAP2, I really do not think its from strong winds.

Thanks for the input Amer. I was wondering if there was any place in So Cal that I can just walk in and pick them up.

Also, during some searching, it was said that there might be a TSB fro this problem, and it might be covered under warranty. Anybody have any definitive answer on that?

there is a TSB for 00-01 strikers. check in the 'library' forum. find it,make sure it applies to your VIN, print it, bring it to your local dealer, or the dealer you bought it from.

also, get some shin-etsu grease and grease up all rubber seals surrounding the top. its good for the rubber, and should help seals-especially around the glass and a pillar.

First, is the car honda certified? Or do you have an extended warranty?

If you take it to the dealership you bought it from they will most likely fix it for you (if they're any good that is). If you take it to another honda dealer then it's up to them to decide to fix it for you for free or not. Another option is if none will fix it for free, try going to the one you bought it from and dealing with them so that you pay a reduced amount.

Use 1/4 inch plastic air tubing (aquarium air hose) on the hooks. It will tighten the pull and eliminate the noise. Costs you .25 cents.
