Out of curiosity, what was the dealer going to do to earn $800?
Did he mention any type of repair that might be needed?
Also, was your car ever in a crash?
My car was never in a crash, the dealer quoted me $800 initially to do the whole hardtop installation, he said it involves 8 hours of labor, so I installed the whole thing in 3.5 hour by myself. I got stuck with this adjustment issue. I called the dealer up, and he said they might have to do the whole installation process again, they might charge less, but expect the same price if it took a long time. this is a total BS for me. I like to be quoted for the whole price before somebody touches my car, so here you go, I am doing it again by my self.

The only way to move the HT left or right is to unscrew the 2 vertical screens from each side of the hardtop adjustment plates. Those do left/right, while the 3 screens on each side do up/down/forward/backward.

Front latches should not do anything for left/right adjustment.

Mine's a little off center as well.
That slight difference(3-4mm) is bugging me.
It's a bitch to tighten/loosen the bolts from the inside of the car, so I probably do it when the weather warms up a little.

One more thing, my top fit fine intially.
This whole mis-alignment was a result from me trying to "adjust" it.
I should've just left it alone.

Labor should be in 1.5-2hr maybe. @ $100/hr, total price shouldn't be more than $200.
Your dealer must be quoting you a price for the soft-top install which probably does take 8 hours.

Only other thing i can think of is, did you do the ballpean hammer thing
before you installed the side catchers. One part of those pieces has
to be beaten in some so the catcher will fit right.

Edit... My son and i installed it in less that 2 hrs, and we were clueless when we started.
