Default installing an alarm - should I bother with starter interrupt?

I will be installing a non-factory alarm in my S2000 soon and was wondering if I even bothered to hook up the starter interrupt since we have these special immoblizier keys. Furthermore, would doing the alarm's starter interrupt cause any negative side effects (like from interactions with the key stuff)? The alarm I am using uses an internal N.O. (normally open) relay for starter interrupt so if a thief removes power from the alarm the car still won't start. What have others around here done concerning this topic?

Generally, I wouldn't do it. The immobilizer in the keys should be sufficient and there could be problems from the alarm. (A friend of my had such a problem with his Jetta.) I had the Honda alarm installed (not great but at least it was free) but if I were to have an aftermarket alarm, I wouldn't bother with the kill function.

I say get it, as long as it doesn't interfere with the stock immobilizer. The immobilizer is great, but there are ways to defeat it and it doesn't hurt to have another layer of security.

An Rx-7 owner in the other board reported his car stolen with a scam I believe that one of the thief's buddies created a matching key blank with the car's VIN number. The thief's buddy supposedly worked at a Mazda shop.

Very unlikely theft, but if he had a custom starter interrupt alarm besides the factory alarm, his car wouldn't have been stolen.

I'm another believer that you should install the ignition bypass from the alarm. It's just one more added piece of security.

every layer of protection is good. it isnt that much more work to add the ignition kill wiring, so I'd do it. *unless it affects the immobilizer system

[B]I tend to agree with you, but I was hoping to hear from someone who installed a non-factory alarm in their S2000 (and did the ignition kill) to confirm it does not interfere with the immobilizer system.
