err...you want it brighter than it already is at night??.... I run mine dimmed a few button-presses lower than the normal already-dimmed position. It's less distracting and more comfortable at night.

Ding ding ding...this is correct. It makes perfect sense. All electronic displays do this. From headunits to plasma TVs....in the dark, they dim.
