which intake?
I have th e K&N and its great I would recomend it. A friend has the Comptech and it is very nice set up as well.
Whatever you do dont buy the spoon drop in filter (its a rip off) if you elect to go that route get the GReady/HKS/Trust/K&N. If you have one I'm not trying to flame just speaking from past experiences. The spoon snorkal does work well and is very functional.
BTW, I have used Spoon filters in the past and the other makes I stated are just as good if not better. The price Spoon charges for a foam filter is insane.

How much do you want to spend? Probably the best intakes are J's and Mugen. AEM V2 makes more power and is pretty cheap, but has some drawbacks (namely water can get to the filter when it rains and can cause engine hydrolock).
Both Comptech and K&N are pretty comparable.

if you want gains and don't wanna spend the money then put in the spoon snorkel and gut the airbox. If you want gains and don't care about the money then get J's or mugen . If you don't care for gains then go for whatever you think looks the nicest.

A gutted stock airbox and snorkel are the best other than the over 1K intakes.
I recently got to drive a S2000 with the AEM V2 Intake. It might not make much peak HP or TQ but you can notice the power difference all across the power band when comparing it to stock. This is going to probably be my choice since I have yet to come across any informantion on the Injen intake.

The best way to go is with a better flowing filter and call it a day. Spend the rest on modifications that will actually do something.

Are you kidding? Those intakes are some of the biggest wastes of money going around. Why not keep the stock intake, pay me 100 dollars to tell you that paying 1000 dollars for an intake that is a COMPLETE waste of money. The car will be no faster than stock with any intake on the market.
