What is this Hondata insulator and where does it go since we are somewhat on this subject. I have the comptech intake and it work greats. But sometimes it bogs off the line if I sit at the light really long and I have been stuck in traffic a while. It just basically really hot condition.

The Hondata insulator is a replacement for the gasket that sits between your intake manifold and the head. It's an involved install, but it offers a lot of benefits IMHO.

The bogging issue (to my belief) is caused by multiple sources. The MAP sensor is the most popular cause, but it's not the only source of the issue. Some of the other things like heat soaking of the intake manifold (from allowing heat to be trasferred over from the head) raises IAT's (intake air temps) which reduces air density, so less fuel is added therefore the result is less power. Hot air also contributes to risks of detonation/pinging/knocking which forces the ECU to retard (pull) timing away, reducing power as much as 10-15hp. Having your car sit in traffic versus driving while moving may also contribute to having increased ECT (engine coolant temps) which also may contribute to having the ECU pull away ignition power to reduce the chance of detonation.

The Hondata Insulator resolves 1 of those issues, the IAT factor. By installing the Hondata Insulator (a plastic/vinyl gasket piece), you slow or minimize the time it takes for the engine to heat up the intake manifold side of things. It works great, but not a complete solution to the bogging issues.

Do you have to cut the bonnet for the Muz intake?

No, you don't cut the bonnet/hood.

Comptech or Spoon should suit your needs.

Would relocating the air charge temp sensor from the manifold to the airbox or even the plastic intake tube help stop too much timing being pulled?

I've never seen a ACT sensor mounted in the manifold before.

Has anyone tried the Backyard Special cooling/intake thingie? It looks like the way Honda should have made things in the first place!
