Default Intake void warranty?

Since I hear Honda dealers are finicky when it comes to Mods and warranty issues. Will an intake, something simple as K & N Fipk void drivetrain warranty?

thanks

If it was a manufacturers warranty they would have to proved it caused your drivetrain problems.

If its a Hondacare "insurance" warranty, they it will void it - hell, some neon washer nozzles for your hood would void it as they are definately not mod tolerant.

while technically they can't void a factory warranty without proving the aftermarket part caused the failure, if a dealership wants to be a d*ck they can try to deny it.

Install it yourself.. then you can put it back to stock when you take it into the shop in the event of a warrantee issue.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Law

Unless the aftermarket part is the cause of the failure, the dealer cannot void your warrenty. Read the above link for the details.

Reverting the car back to stock is the best bet. Even then, they will deny the warrenty because you over rev'd the car.

About the only thing that a non-stock intake could lawfully void a FACTORY WARRANTY for would be hydrolock. When I installed some intake mods (some of my own design) I took my car to my dealer's service manager (with a witness) and asked him for an opinion. He said "great work, that will cause no damage". After that, there is NO WAY Honda could get out of the FACTORY WARRANTY.

Honda Care is another matter. As an "insurance policy" it is not a warranty regulated be Federal law. Honda Care states that ANY mod will violate ALL of the Warranty. Even if I have a non-stock intake, and my problem is with my wheel bearings (no relationship possible). That is why I did not "bite" for the overpirced Honda Care.

Thanks,
Richard

All of the comments said are correct in there own way. A Honda Care warranty will the whole thing due to aftermarket parts. The new car warranty will only be void if the aftermarket part in question was the specific cause of the problem. As far as a Honda dealership is concerned they love to do the warranty work because they get paid of it anyway. So if the aftermarket part caused the problem but they dealer can make it look like it didn't they will probably help you out. Probably.
