Interior Camera Mounts
I use the modifry mount and have tried it with several cameras. My Canon MiniDV is small but too heavy and cause a shake. I've used a smaller point and shoot cameras, significantly lighter, but it too had a bit of a shake. I also used weather stripping between the hidden compartment cover and the center console.
Now, I believe I have found the solution.
I just got a Vado HD mini camcoder to use with the mount. The camera records in 720p HD and weights 3.5 ozs. I took some test video on the street the other night and it turned out perfect. I don't have the camera right now but otherwise I'd post my night test video.

This one looks pretty good even though it mounts to the windscreen but followed the link and looks like he is no longer selling them.

I went to a camera store and bought an adjustable ball type camera mount for $30, comes with a quick release that comes in handy! I drilled a hole through the top of my secret compartment about an inch in front of my windscreen and mounted it there. I love it, if you want more info or pics just let me know. Also... for a good quality and cheap camera I recommend FlipVideo... got mine brand new for $65, it holds 1 hour of video and it is easy as hell to upload the files, push a button and a usb pops out of the side
It weighs next to nothing.
Here is a video to give you an idea of the cams quality. Note: the cam is not on the mount in this vid.

..and here is a video of it in the mount, skip ahead to 3:20

See my sig for videos. I use the modifry camera mount with a Lumix point and shoot camera (very light weight). I also tape down the secret compartment lid with painters tape to minimize any shaking.
How do you guys deal with wind noise? I've taped over the mic and it's still all you hear above 30-40mph.
Before I got my modifry camera mount (which I'm very happy with), I used the same method as 21337R except I didn't drill a hole in my secret compartment. I bought an aluminum L shaped bracket from Home depot and drilled 2 holes in it to match up with the windscreen holes. I then drilled another hole on the verticle part of the "L" and attached the camera mount there. This was held my heavier camcorder fine, but I had to take on and off the windscreen for every autox/track day (which is pretty frequent).
