from what i've seen. .it doesn't lose power. doesn't gain much, but certainly doesnt lose. power will stay the same, you buy it just for the looks/sound.

however, i think it sounds too muffled... it's like your motor is screaming through a heavy wool sweater.

I have the first catback for the 04+.
It was the original one used for the first 04 production run.
I run it uncorked, with a Comptech Icebox... and it doesn't sound like some "same old Honda" ...on a daily driver...here are my thoughts:

1). It's loud, but the beauty of it is you can control the tune/tone with the accelerator. Just like playing a pipe organ. This exhaust sounds even better over 5K RPM. I have had a few of my neighbors come over and say it sounded nice.

2). My exhaust is welded throughout...no clamps.....and it looks as pristine as the day I bought it. There was a small issue with the tips vibrating due to the rivets loosening...but I fixed that with high temp black silicon inbetween the vibration space....never vibrated again.

3). Unsure about CARB and smog on this, might have to put the stocker back on when it comes time for a smog check.

4). I Wouldn't ever get rid of mine, and if you don't like the drone at 3K get the resonator mod

I love my invidia.
Sounds great between 3.5k and 6k, Im not terribly fond of it after vtec but it still sounds pretty good.

I get nothing but "man that exhaust sounds SICK!".

I have the this cat back and after I replaced the resonator with the OEM one, the drone is much more manageable without having to have the silencer on for everyday driving. However, if I'm going to go for a long drive with my wife, I will put the silencer in.

The major complaint I have is the freakin' tips rattling at idle. One of my winter projects will be to drill out and replace them. This really makes my car sound cheap.... but once I get moving, it sure sounds good and constantly get compliments on how good it sounds.

i have hks with tp sounds great nice and loud but only when you want it to be . im curious why all the talk about hp loss how can this be determined so easily, I have done 100s of dyno runs with many cars and seen gains and losses from nothing at all, Im going to dyno soon with just hi power exhaust and a JDMfabtech test pipe been a few weeks since install ready dyno.

Thats basically it. Either you need to get a ride in one, or just go for the plunge. I chose the latter. I'm 19 (now, 18 at the time) and I go to school so I only drive on the weekends half the year so I only wanted it to sound real nice at whatever expense. During the summer I DD the car. The car drones, yes, but as stated its easily controlable.

Hands down best sounding, highest horsepower gaining (dual), best priced exhaust out there.

I wrote a big write up for this exhaust, but my net died before I could send it
