Default Issue with Hondata

Hey guys,

I received my ECU from hondata and just installed it on the car. I double checked to be sure I was plugging everything correctly and then connected the battery. I turn the key (everything was ok to that point) but then I hit the engine start button and I just hear a "click" but the engine won

Have you contacted Hondata?

First, clean the battery terminals and the insides of the connectors on the battery cables with a wire brush, sandpaper, or whatever you have available. Jist get them nice and shiney. Sometimes, oxidized terminals and cables can cause the symptom you are getting. If this isn't the problem, you've just done a bit of routine maintenance and spent nothing.

If not that, then I'd wager it's the battery, either needs to be charged or actually bad. Can you read the battery voltage while trying to start the car? Or was that the 12.3V you mentioned.

I suspect that the car has been sitting while you awaited the return of your ecu, so I'd be really suspicious of the battery. It could be something with the ecu, but you don't want to be without your car for any length of time and then find out it's the battery or terminals.

I emailed hondata but haven't received a reply yet.

When I hit the engine start the voltage goes to 11,7 which seems normal to me.

I will check the terminals, but they seemed ok when I connected them (no rust on them).

It could indeed be the ecu, but it won't hurt to check the battery and terminals while awaiting their reply.

Either way, good luck.

So take the Hondata out and start it. If it starts, put it back in and try starting again. If it doesn't start, narrows down your problem.

It's my stock ECU reflashed by hondata, so I can't take it out.

I got a reply from hondata:

Are you pushing in the clutch pedal?
