Watched Tsukuba race between S2000, RSX TYPE R and someother cars I can't remember.

Anyways, if same driver drove two cars back to back on same track, I would bet that S2000 would run shorter lap time than ITR due to the fact that it has signficant advantage on late braking, corner entering and exit with it being RWD.

But who knows....

Both are awesome cars btw. I couldn't find ITR when I was buying my old GSR. I would've gotten ITR if they were available.

For what it's worth, Type Rs are perhaps the fastest stock FWD cars around for autocross, but they don't hold a candle to S2000s (the former are in D Stock, while the latter are in B or A Stock). Autocross really puts a premium on the ability to put power down exiting corners since the straights are so short; consequently FWD cars are at a greater disadvantage than they would be on a track.

Just remember some ITR hit low 14's but that is a good driver. If you had the same level of driving skill on a s2k then it supposed to hit high 13's. I think in reality the S2k is not as easy to launch compare to many other car. Explain a lot by the Magazine where there time has a 2 second variable on the quarter mile. But coming equal driver all the time with stock for stock the S2k will win. But saying purely quarter mile with mods the ITR would win but it wouldn't be an ITR any more.

I have had around a dozen track days in my stock standard S2k competing against stock standard ITRs and other S2ks. My experience is as follows:

Short fast track (long straights - few curves) - S2k is 1 to 2 seconds faster
Long fast track (long straights - high speed curves) - S2k is 2-3 seconds faster
Tight twisty track - ITR is 1 to 1.5 seconds faster)
Drags - S2k is about 0.5 sec faster over the quarter.

This would seem to contradict the autocross classifications listed above (which are based on the results of dozens of top-level drivers on a variety of courses). Maybe the Type R drivers you've seen are better on tight tracks?

i drove my ITR against my dad's S2000 for 3-4 rolling races.... he beat me every time from 20-110mph or so..... i think he beat me by about 1-3 car legnths........

My itr was a 1997 with about 8k miles on it at the time..... his 2000 S2000 with about 5k miles on it.

I pretty much hated the ITR and sold it in 5 months...... i owned my own S2000 at the time and it is just a much better car in my opinion.

hate is a strong word. remember, the ITR wasn't a drag car. I personally loved the 97-98 ITR's and was glad honda offered a type r model here in the states. we should be grateful for that. now we have no type r models at all.
