Consider one of those tire pressure gauges that are installed with the tire and can be monitored in the car. Inexpensive too!

interesting tread separation. have you ever had a plug/patch put on that tire that you know of?

The rims and tires are the ones that came with our new 2001 and transfered to the 2000. Never unmounted or patched. Once my new S-02s arrive, we'll bust the old tire off the rim and see the inside better. I did notice something that looked like the end of a razor blade in the center of the tire, I'll look closer later to see if this allowed all the air out. I'm thinking she was driving with the same 13lbs of air that Barry mentioned, and riding on the edge of the tread and partially on the sidewall. This eventually or wore through. I'll post pictures after it's removed from the rim.
