I have had my S2000 for about a year now. I drive it to school every day of the week and I get many compliments from it. By the way I am 16 and a junior in high school. I guess i have the rarest car in the parking lot and over time i have lost my personal identity and became known as "the kid with the black s2000" in other cities.. well anyway, back to the point.. i'm pulling into the school and i get there early enough so theres only a few cars parked in the lot... what do i see as i go to pull in my parking spot.. ?? A BLACK/BLACK '02 S2000!!!! right in my spot... i do not live in a very wealthy city and most of the cars are not like mine or my friends... my jaw hit my seat and i couldnt believe it...the worst part about this is, it was on 17" UGLY UGLY UGLY Chrome rims and had a black strip going across the top of the windshield...the whole talk around school was.. "ohhhh Joey did you see the other s2000." ohh joey this and ohh joey that.. i couldnt take it..now that its the third day i am getting used to seeing another s2000 parked like three spaces away from me... lots of people gave the kid a hard time for buying the same car same color and parking next to me.. to be honest i did also... now im feeling bad.. when he sees me or my friends walking through the locker room or school he takes detours and tries to avoid the insults... i tried to make small talk with him today after school such as: "how do you like it.. dont take it over 5 grand before 600 miles...im jealous of the glass window.. i like your dark ass tint" but he still is shy. (he sort of acted like a di*k)... i asked some friends of his why he bought such hideous and cheap chrome rims and they said.."he had the car for 3 days and begged his parents to get him something to differentiate his car from yours.. so he tinted the window and got wheels.. his car now looks an inch higher than mine (seems to be) and i still have the intake, exhaust, clear corners/side markers and the bottle in the back...how would any of you respond to this happening.. i know i should be mature about and take it as a compliment that he found my car nice enough to one of his own however it still sucks...there only three in the city and now one of those three park next to me every day...when i first saw it i was thinking "fu*k this i want a used NSX!" now im getting used to it... so any thoughts or oppinions?

Oh boy... 16 and an s2k. I'll say this much, hope you don't take it for granted, my kids will NEVER get a new car as a first car... heck, if they get 1600 on the SAT, I might consider buying them a new car.

umm "what a big problem.."? actually its not at all.. just conversation.. How about mature responses from mature people. I knew this would turn into a "i cant believe your crying about it when your 16" thread, however i was hoping some of us could just look past age and think of me as just another car enthusiasts that probably knows more about our automobiles than about 70% of the people on this site... and the few that can't help but refrain themselves from turning this into a large argument about age/money should not respond at all... thank you ..oh and i got it when i was 15..not 16

Hard to relate to this in a "mature" way even though I am old enough to be your friggin' grandpa......but lemme see. Ok...... how about "Just don't worry about it"? Aside from appearances and "what the other kids say" why worry? You have a very outstanding unmolested car at a very young stage of your life, so what the other kid does is immaterial. Just enjoy the car.

I am not too familiar with life in The Springs but if you feel the need to really stand out you could trade your S2000 in on a 550 Maranello or a Lamborghini Murcielago. You won't see one of those in the old high school lot real soon.
