What I do with the collector cars is drive them on a nice sunny day to take my wife to dinner, flea markets, fall leaf color rides, scenic rides. We are aging and getting in and out of the MX-5 and the S2000 was not comfortable. I have collector car insurance on them which is very inexpensive for full coverage. I signed an contract that they will not be raced, driven to work or errands. The insurance has no deductible on the comp and collision. The agreed value never goes down. If lost one I will get the full amount. It never depreciates. The cost on the S2000 was $200/yr.

Corvette's from the 1997's on are easy to access.

I have three sons. These Corvettes will not be sold they will go to them.

I'd hate to be the one that only gets the C5!

I don't get why everyone is getting so worked up over this and are actually starting to bash him a little bit. Let the man do what he wants to do with his own possessions. You might think it's a waste or whatever but what he does has absolutely no bearing on you whatsoever. If anything, he's doing the used car market a favor by offering up a car for sale that quite possibly has never seen any hard driving or abuse at all. This is one of those rare cases where "driven by an old man/lady" is actually true (no offense intended)!

1) if you don't want people giving their worthless opinions on the internet, don't post your worthless stories on the internet.

OP comes on, says he sold his s2000 and didn't utilize the 2 features on the car that really make the car. I say that's silly. He gives a reason for it. I say his reason is silly. so what?

2) old people can be stupid, too.

3) if you think its alright for people to have collectors insurance on miata's and s2000s (which, correct me if I'm wrong, is only limited to cars 15-25+ years of age, or exotics, neither of which the s2000 and miata are), and never utilize them to their fullest potencial (ie, drive with the top down or above 6k rpm), then hey, maybe you're right.

or maybe some of us are just dicks

I think patinum said it best: "I think I'll go bake a cake and not eat it, then watch a movie with my eyes closed, then ask my hot girlfriend to come over and not touch her."

edit:
IMO, the OP should have bought a plymouth prowler, ford thunderbird, or chrysler crossfire. those would better suit his needs of looks over function.
I don't recall the OP asking for your opinion.

The man came on here to inform us of his trade, the mileage on it, the trade value, condition and where interested parties could find it.

He also made mention of his new car. I don't think he cares what the hell you think and quite frankly, neither do I.

If you don't agree with him, that is fine. It is your perogative.

It doesn't give you the right to act like an ass, unless of course this is your normal attitude which then just makes you a consistant dickhead.

I don't recall caring whether or not the OP asked for my opinion, since I'll give it anyways. public forums are a nest of unasked-for opinions. its something one should expect.

for all we know, the OP is a car salesman trying to move this vehicle, making us think that its never been high-rev'd, and the top's never been lowered, and the car's never been in the rain - all for the sake of getting more money on it. the shameless plug for the dealer doesn't help.

if he doesn't care what I have to think, thats fine. but that doesn't keep me from giving my opinion.

and yes, I am a dick

Must be wonderful feeling no constraints or need to be civil.

Only trouble is, most people I've met who share your antiscocial behavior, are the ones who cry loudest when treated the same.

You have yourself a wonderful day now, you hear.
