do your friends ever give you the "it's just a Honda" BS? just the other day a friend of mine got seriously pissed and was trying to shut me up when i was telling him not to sit in my seat with his legs out the door. i told him that the seat wasn't meant to be sat in that way because it can distort the side bolsters over time. he started getting mad and giving me this "it's just a Honda" BS, using that to refute everything i tell him about the car. he also asks me to drive the car regularly, claiming that he knows how to drive stickshift and once again, "it's just a Honda." i explain to him that driving a RWD, no traction control, light, high-revving car is nothing like driving his friend's 1990 5 speed Celica or anything else, for that matter.

i think he might just be mad that i don't let him drive.

 

I wouldn't call that kinda person a friend.

bottom line is most people will not respect what they dont have to pay for.

you look at $3500 seats- he sees himself looking cool with his legs out
you see a hefty differential replacement bill- he sees feathering out the clutch from about 4500 rpms as being the first thing hes going to do

etc etc.

yea its just a honda. and so is the nsx.


people dont understand the car itself , we cant expect them to understand the hours we spend on this forum, nor the way we treasure our beloved Honda

 

i told him they were $3500 seats and he said that's how much all leather seats cost. then i told him they're Recaros and he said he doesn't know what that is. then i told him "I know--you know nothing about cars."

 

i see it differently, it just a damn car, if the person is really your friend.

There was some debate a while back that they actually weren't and that was a propagated rumor by an auto reviewer.

The guy doesn't sound like a friend. He's selfish and only looking out for what he wants. HE wants to put his feet out the window. HE wants to drive. Blah, blah. I'd say go abuse something that he loves / values... but someone like that may not have anything worth jumping on....

I tell people it is just a Porsche all the time, but they still treat it with respect ......I think my friends would act the same even if I had a Yugo

 

I have no problems with my friends respecting my stuff. They all love my car and think it's hotness.
How old is this guy? Usually young punks are the one's that would make a statement like, "It's just a Honda" because they have no concept of value and know nothing about the S2000.
