Thank God it's JUST a (little) Honda! I hear that too from time to time.
But once you give those people a testdrive in that little 2L Honda...
...they usually stop talking B.S. and get some respect.

Has anyone ever confirmed they're actually Recaros?

There was some debate a while back that they actually weren't and that was a propagated rumor by an auto reviewer.

The guy doesn't sound like a friend. He's selfish and only looking out for what he wants. HE wants to put his feet out the window. HE wants to drive. Blah, blah. I'd say go abuse something that he loves / values... but someone like that may not have anything worth jumping on....
From what I have been told and what I have read the AP1s were Recaro. After that I can't say.

I would not care if it was JUST A HYUNDAI!!!! If I dont want someone to sit a certain way in my seats, I expect them to respect that wish...or guess what....they are not my friend. GET OUT OF MY CAR!!!!

Forget letting that tool drive your car....ever!!!

do your friends ever give you the "it's just a Honda" BS? just the other day a friend of mine got seriously pissed and was trying to shut me up when i was telling him not to sit in my seat with his legs out the door. i told him that the seat wasn't meant to be sat in that way because it can distort the side bolsters over time. he started getting mad and giving me this "it's just a Honda" BS, using that to refute everything i tell him about the car. he also asks me to drive the car regularly, claiming that he knows how to drive stickshift and once again, "it's just a Honda." i explain to him that driving a RWD, no traction control, light, high-revving car is nothing like driving his friend's 1990 5 speed Celica or anything else, for that matter.

i think he might just be mad that i don't let him drive.
It shouldn't matter what it is, they should respect your property. Tell him to get his own if wants to drive it - if he can't respect the seats, I doubt he'r respect the drivetrain, its rwd, or much of anything.

As fas as the Recaro seats go, no one has ever proved they aren't Recaro, and there's more evidence they are than they aren't, so make up your own mind.

I still have never seen any "evidence" that they're Recaros except for car mags talking about it.

Has anyone seen official Honda anything talking about it?

It is just a honda, but your friends should understand how you feel about your car and should treat it at least as good as you do. People make mistakes and a good friend is far more important in life than a worn out side bolster, just make sure it's a good friend...
