At least Honda has a modern sports car. Toyota has the riced out nutless Celica.

The celica was discontinued in 2005. Toyota has no sporty car anymore...unless you look at the Corolla??

Thats bad for the door hinges - you should never lean on an open door, especially our little doors with their minimal reinforcments.

I use that line as an owner. Someone might say something complimentary (for example the looks) about the car and I respond by saying "it's just a honda, no big deal". Of course, I am giggling on the inside as I say it.

"Its just a Honda" is such BS. What other car does Honda make thats ANYTHING like the S2000? Its more expensive than their other cars, its sportier than their other cars, etc.

I guess by the same token, we could just say "Its just a Toyota" for a Supra TT or "Its just a Nissan" for a Skyline. . .

These are flagship cars for these companies that don't really totally fit with 99% of the other cars the company makes.

Though at the same time, our cars are not $100k+ Italian super cars either and I don't think we should treat them like they're something REALLY special. S2000's are a great, fairly affordable, fun car to drive. Definately not just another Honda though.

Finally someone who put it the way I feel. I love my car, I try to take good care of it because it wasn't free, but at the end of the day it *is* a Honda, not an exotic.

For me its not even about what kind of make or model it is, I used to bitch at my friends for setting cups on my civics trunk or leaning on the fenders/quarter panels. I did not care that it was a Civic and just a honds. The simple fact is I take care of my stuff and if someone doesn't respect that then they should get away from my car and set there cups on their car and lean against the fender

Things that will make me say something to a friend regarding my car are:
*Slamming the door
*Setting any item other than a article of clothing or cloth (rag/towel) on the car
*Getting out of the car and kicking the dash or door while getting out
*Eating ice cream or other messy items in the car
*Leaning on the car
*Touching the CF mirrors (people are always making it so I cant see out of them its just carbon it doesnt feel like anything special )

Most of the time I just say something to make them mindful of what they did (a lot of my friends drive trucks and SUV's and beat them up )

Ya I know I am anal/paranoid about my car, but I have always been that way

Actually, I've been thinking about having our vinyl guy make me a sticker that says, "It's Just A Honda." IMHO that should be our S2kI motto.

I'm picky about my cars too.

What's funny to me is that I've never actually had anyone say that one of my cars was just a *whatever* except when we were just joking around. I'm usually the one who says that my car is just a Fiat, Benz, Honda, Jag, or whatever, in response to someone who wants to make too much out of the car.

There are also F1 and Cart cars that are just Honda's. Saying that an S2000 is just a Honda is like saying that an Enzo is just a Fiat. Seeing it as anything other than a joke (or gross ignorance) is silly.

The S2000 is a hand assembled "race car for the street," designed by Honda as a gift to themselves in celebration of 50 years in motorsports. It is a unique car that could not have been produced by anyone other than Honda, so of course it's a Honda.

Where some of us get it wrong is in thinking that the uniqueness of our cars make them better cars, and that's not really the case. The uniqueness makes them more or less desirable, depending on what one wants in an automobile. Not only is it just a Honda, it's just a CAR.
