Got my car (MY2000 #4586, with just under 12,000 miles) back yesterday from having TSBs 54 & 55 done. While I won't be able to tell if the grind is fixed until I get to do some hard driving, the new clutch is much better (quieter!) than the original one. The dealer staff was awesome (much better than their sales force). If you need these TSBs, get 'em done ASAP.

I took the car in for the 12 month/15k service, and told them about my intermittent grind problems when the tranny was warm. I made a point of *not* mentioning the fact that I knew about both TSBs, and I didn't mention the cluch noise (I thought it was normal - little did I know!). I told 'em to drive it as much as they had to to reproduce the grind. They said they reproduced it after only a short drive (total test mileage - before & after the fix - 5 miles), and had ordered the parts for the transmission, plus the clutch, which they said they might as well do while they're in there. The work took a day & a half.

Probably more than you wanted to know. Sorry!

Wow. I'm not sure I can bring myself to tell a dealer this. Thanks for your post, though.

Mike,

My grind is sooooooo infrequent it would just be pure luck that they would get it to grind. I has only done it about 3 times, but... I WANT A FREE REBUILD....

Sunchild - not much my dealer can do to my car that I haven't already done
