It's a total lie
March 2004 Sport Compact Car has a great article comparing the 2003 to 2004. Good graph on horsepower & torgue curves...The bases of this article is the 2004 is just as much of a motorcycle on 4 wheels as the previous S 2000's...

The article states, "The new engine shows and increase in output of between four and 10 percent across the powerband, and Honda's dyno curve shows a big improvement in torque at 3500 rpm, where the engine really starts to pull. Our chassis dyno backed up those claims. The 2.2-liter made 210 hp at 8000 rpm at the rear wheels, compared to 203 hp at 8500 rpm that the old 2.0-liter delivered, and 146 lb-ft of torque at 6400 rpm, compared to 136 lb-ft at 6300 rpm. Sure, peak power remains the name of the game here, but there's obviously more power than Honda is telling us, and the improved midrange is nice around town."
In the end, the article states, "Bottom line: the 2004 S2000 remains a serious car. We wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks, Honda."

Hmmm....so all this speculation about the MY03/MY04 really makes me wonder......
Big things to think about only the US got the 2.2 engine right? Why I wonder?
Both engines are rated the same. Makes sense, would you want to say US 2004 260HP, Japanese 2004 240HP? No of course not. Maybe the O4 generates more HP maybe not, but I would like to think that the 04 should have more potential to mod than the 03. Maybe it's safe to up the redline and tune for 9K. Don't know but it really makes me wonder(an want to experiment too
but not yet).
BTW the Bay Area owners are probably going to do a Dyno day in the next couple of weeks. Should be a mix of MY04 and prior years. Same dyno, same conditions should be and good test to see if their is more power on MY04.
