Default Jack Recommendations

What do you recommend for a good low profile long reach jack that will jack up both wheels at once in the front and in the the rear to place an s2000 on stands? Steel v. Aluminium??

Steel. Aluminum or Aluminum/steel is too wonky. Your garage won't go any faster from the lightweight aluminum lol.

Aluminum jacks are good for portable use. But those are small jacks with limitations anyway.

Buy ramps. Buy a normal heavy duty jack with good lifting range.

Lift the front first. Jackstand it.

Then get to the diff or subframe by inserting the jack from the side/front.

Costco sells a decent "Arcan" HD steel jack. Or NAPA. Or look on Amazon for Omega or Sunex jacks.

About 2 years ago my steel HD sears jack died after 30 years or so of use. Got a new one from Harbor Freight. I got aluminum, because the old jack was so heavy, no fun to carry around the garage and to where I needed to use it. If I had the space to just wheel it around, weigjt wouldn't be a problem. Its soooo much nicer to move the lighter AL jack around. But if you have the space, and won't need to be carrying it around, steel would be better.

The AL jack feels plenty sturdy.

If your lowered just drive up onto a 1X4 or 2X4 to get the jack under the front

I use a Torin Blackjack today, and it gets the job done. Low profile so I can get it under the car easily, but I only side-jack - never tried a center jack point..

I have a harbor freight jack for 8 years, and it never failed me. I recently went to a HPDE with the Porsche Club of America......all I saw in the paddock and around were Harbor Freight jacks

To get all four wheels up? It would probably be better to use the front and rear center jacking points.

If I was using some 2x4 planks, I'm pretty sure getting to the center points wouldn't be an issue.
