Default The JACKASS I am!!

(Flame suit on)
I was on the freeway this weekend driving along and here comes this 97'+ Prelude all done up. We are driving along, racing abit and about when I am to get off for my exit I decided I want to just dust the guy. I am crusing at about 75 and I push in the clutch and change gears and instead of hitting fourth I nail second and Warrrrrrrrmrmmmrmmrfffvvvvvvvvvvv. I quickly engaged the cluth again and put it back into sixth. But the reason I post is I have not seen any difference in the way my motor running it still runs great and has full power, so do you guys think if there was damage to be done in the situation it would have been apparent by now? Like I said the car runs great and nothing out of the norm with her.

I know that by posting this I loose all manhood, everyone here thinks I have no driving skills and on top of that I am a total dip shit, in addition to that I'm grounded from my car for a month and also I really am an idiot, but I just want to know if A: Anyone else as dumb as I am and if so have they seen any problems? B: Do you think I damaged my motor?

Did it rev above the 9k mark when you engaged second? I assume the clutch was let in all the way?

I grounded my self

I don't think I had disengaged it totally but I think I remember seeing the 9k red light flashing

It's almost identical to my experience this weekend. I was on H-1 cruising through Honolulu when I attempted to go from 6th to 4th while going approximately 60mph. I ended up in 2nd and saw the rpm exceed 8000 (still had the clutch in a little) The kicker is, there is none of that burning smell i noticed from past indiscretion......it's like my incident never happened? I really have to learn how to find 4th....

At 75 you could just double clutch and go for 3rd...that would solve the going into second gear problem, but then you might accidently hit first.

I did something like that before on my auto corolla. I was racing my friend's civic dx (yea, beater racing), and I accidently left it in 2nd to begin with. My car roared up to 75mph before the car just wouldn't go anymore! I looked down and go "oh shit!" before I put it back in drive. Good thing was I beat him . Nothing's happened so far.

If your car is still running fine you probably did not hurt it and are lucky. I think you still have your manhood, look down to confirm. With those short throws so close together it is easy to select the wrong gear.
