The JACKASS I am!!
You'll get a flashing orange/yellow check engine light.
It means that there is a malfunction in the emission system.
You know how it takes a couple of hits to get a nail all the way in?
Just try to limit the amount of times this happens.
edit: The light means that the emision system has detected a malfunction.

I guess you were lucky cause we ran one weekend at an IDRC event and my friend's GS-R blew 8 valves and we had a slow ass drive on the way home. If it really is running fine then you are ok, as long as this does not happen again. You probably aren't as much a tool as you say, but I know you are totally dissapointed about that and even till now my friend still gets flamed about it so it's all in good fun.
I accidentally did 5th to 2nd in my del Sol when it had about 70k on the clock. Tach went well past 9000 (8000 is redline.) It blew quite the puff of smoke behind me and I did some ring damage in Cylinder 1. The car would then lose about a quart every 1500 miles (it lost nothing before the incident.)
Around 101k, accelerating up a really long steep hill...a 5th to 4th downshift, going about 70 mph @ 4400 RPM and it burnt a valve. I can't believe the valve issue was fallout from the missed shift 30k miles earlier, but some have said it could be.
Either way...I just had her rebuilt and she runs as good as day one.
