I know because I had the pleasure of meeting him at Gingerman today! He spent many a white kunckled runs shotgun in Scarlet...and judging by his reaction, he was more than a little excited. He came to the track with Stealthy_S2K and we really had a tremendous day there.

We had a total of FOUR S2000's! Keith (aquatic), Nick (GTRpower), Stealthy_S2K, and me. The best part was that there was MAX of about 10 cars there all day. So it was wide open to those who just wanted to run. Totally awesome. Perfect weather...man, I'm exhausted!

Jay, nice hanging with you...looking forward to you joining us ON the track!

Keith, I hope you made it home OK. He has about 5 hour drive to Gingerman

Oh, and no beach parties either! I posted my personal best times there today, as well. Everything just felt right on. Sweet!

Hey Greg,

Yeah, that was fun...

Sorry about killing off your rear brake pads- especially after you "volunteered" your spare set of new rear pads to me... I'm glad you got to try out my car- you sure looked like you had fun out there in it. Too bad the tires started to take a crap- FYI, Emmanuel was still hot lapping @1.40- 1.41 at the end of the day with the front left tire totally dead...

I think the best part of the day for me was when Emmanuel was driving my car, and chased down the Porsche 911 Targa that was trailered to the track. Remember that guy took off pretty much after that "session"? I guess he was off to buy an S2000 after getting spanked so badly. He was four turns ahead at the start of the chase, and Emmanuel passed him within a lap and a half. Pitiful display by the Porsche- I expected more.

I don't think I've spun off the track so many times since using the dreaded BF Goodrich G-Force R1 tires on my Type R, BUT, I did go from a 1.44 laptime average, stock, to a 1.40 average in the S2000 in it's current form. The Type R is stil faster- 1.37 lap averages in that car with Kumhos, and I think there's a two to three second improvement using 225/45R15 Hoosiers. The S2000 still needs suspension tweeks, before I can say what the tires can do for laptimes. I also think that the S2000 probably has more potential for improvement than my Type R- considering my S2000 is mostly stock, at least compared to the Type R and GTR...

Wish me luck tomorrow- the S2000 is going in to the dealer for the 2nd gear grind and clutch fix...

-Nick

Had a great day again. Went through some serious brake pads. We all had to change them.

Very cool having a little midwest meet.

Cant wait till next time, probably next season though.

Hey, guys. I am working on to put my AP Racing Caliper from my BMW into the S2K. Hope it will last a little bit longer than the stock one. but, definetly will meet you guys in CGI motorsports track day with my buddies from Detroit area next year.

Good to meet you guys. I am sure we will see each other again.

Perry-

Don't do that.

Your S2000 doesn't need bigger calipers. You'll lose pedal feel which will make it harder to heel/toe downshift. You will also have the same problems you are currently experiencing, namely, heat soak in the rotor, and consequently, the caliper. You need brake ducts and better pads, along with performance brake fluid and stainless steel braided lines to minimise line expansion. Just installing the calipers will make it look pretty, but will have NO effect on braking performance over the life of a lap day.

I just thought you should know... Besides, you know I had no front brake problems, just a rear pad problem which was understandable since they were the stock, original pads after three trackdays...

Nick. I know you got Hawk Blues and brake duct on the front. How did that do for you? I am still trying to get PF90 for myself. I am sure we will compare notes on that.
The problem with my front rotor is that I think it got so hot. The stock pads glazed the rotor and I lost the brake feel. Even now, it is still loose. I checked the brake pads when I got home and they still have meat left. I talked to one of my buddy who also have a S2K. He told me that his also used up his brake quickly on the track. so, I think the stock pad are too soft to use on the track.

Nick I will definetly try your solution first. If they don't work out, then it is the AP time over the winter.

Any suggestion on where I can get the brake duct, or you just made it yourself?

Perry.

Perry, he got the ducts done at King Motorsports. If I remember correctly, it cost him about 3-400 bucks.
