This comes up in every JDM forum. The whole JDM theory is about function over form, for the most part. Most of the things we do to our cars is for a reason. It's not like the F&F rice/show cars. Where people would add things that did nothing for the car. Just for the 'wild' look. The whole 'JDM' deal is just a race car for the street.

But because the clean lines of the car are not ####ed with with most JDM tuners, I dont think we will look back and laugh like we do at the F&F style cars of our youth.

Actually ... some of the good old JDM cars still look good. For example, some the ITRs from the 90s, and MR2s from early 90s ... those still look good to me!

It depends on your definition of rice. Some people (domestic owners) think rice is any modified Japanese car. Some people think rice is adding non-go fast parts (subwoofers, etc.). Some people think rice is adding ugly parts (altezzas). Some people think rice is adding non-jdm parts.

Personally, a lot of my fellow autoxers and track whores think that most of the JDM style is already rice because the trend now is to have go fast parts but not go fast.

I answered "yes" because I think even some of the "most exclusive JDM-tuned" cars today are ricey.

but what do you mean by go fast parts??

I believe a lot of s2k owners add their parts for a reason (function). Are you talking about hp wise, or just in general parts.

brakes and suspension are not go fast parts in my opinion, but with those, the cars handles better.

In the other hand some people add FI to their cars, but lacking of brakes and suspension parts. Therefore their cars can only go fast going straight.

As for body kits and aero parts for s2k, I believe most of them work actually inflicts downforce onto our S.
