thats why everytime i go to a mechanic, i make sure i can see everything they are doing. doesnt matter if it takes 2 hours.. ill stand there and watch.

 

Who would take their car to a trashy place like that anyway?

 

There is no reason anyone should ever take an S2000 to a place like that, but 95% of the population 1) drives cheap cars and 2) doesn't have the skill/tools to change their own oil. If I was a middle-aged woman and drove a 1998 Camry, I'd take it to the cheapest oil change place possible... who wants to pay $60 to have a dealer put generic oil in? There aren't many cheap places you can count on though... Jiffy Lube or otherwise.

 

Its theft is what it is. But in all fariness, there are some jiffy lubes that acctually have decent people/techs working there.

 

you can't possibly defend that video.... no matter how hold... no matter what "part of the city" and by the way Burbank and Glendale are not ghetto areas.

 

Places like this barely do oil changes right. They must keep a dozen lawyer on retainer for the blown oil changes. But if you should end up taking the Wife's car to a place like this and they recomend something more complicated than changing an air filter, say no. They're generally not competent enough to do more. For example a transmition fluid and filter change on an automatic would require a gasket replacement. Don't trust em to do it. They'll overtighten a couple bolts and you'll have tranny fluid all over the driveway.

Thats why you do everything yourself. Buy the tools in the long run its cheaper and you gain knowledge that maybe you didnt know. Its fun as hell working on cars and you should always DIY. If all of you are as picky about your car as i am. then you wont let anyone else touch your car unless its your friends or someone you can trust. It has to be done right and only you can get it done as you want it. dont waist the money.

 

wish they had something like this near me, so when car is crapping out, I can take it there and have it "fixed" then get some $ back


jiffy isnt the only one thats doing this.... they only attack jiffy because its a big chain. almost every shop does this, its because the avg joe doesnt know nor car. he/she think they paid for something and its done.


i 2nd the notion for camera+dealership .. free warranty for all hondas..yeah!
