Hey Mike,

I remember reading that the K&N kit will work, but it may make the filter turn brownish. Import Development announced that they would be selling the JR cleaning kit a while back. I've been trying to contact them to get some stuff, but it seems they don't check their phone messages.

hows the new s2000? mine, unfortunately, is still in the shop. im glad your insurance company totalled yours. hows the spoon duct set-up running? im basically going to run the same set-up you have...spoon duct, JR filter, Ztec heatshield...it'd be nice to get some feedback!!!

i think i need to put on a couple more miles on the car before i can really say if the airduct was worth it. i feel as though my 02 motor was stronger, but then again i had 8000 miles on it. im thinking about getting a Spoon filter, but i can't yet justify the cost.

on the positive side of things, i drove with the airduct in pretty heavy rain for about an hour and a half. it was falling hard enough that i couldn't see anything but the dim taillights of cars ahead of me even while going 45mph on the freeway. most of the high had a lot of standing water that was splashed up onto me too from other cars. got to my destination without any problems. opened up the OEM airbox to find my filter nice and dry (and very very cold!). The airduct was wet, but I was very pleased to see the dry filter.

Let me know how your setup works out. I'll probably end up getting the Spoon filter.

dude, shellin out the $$$ for a foam filter. baller...

so since the filter was super cold, im thinkin the ztec heatshield works very well? cold air coming in + heat being blocked from engine = very very cold filter??? i think im gonna be happy with that setup...thanks for the feedback!!!

im betting the heatshield will help more on those summer days. at night i dont think it will make as much a noticeable difference.

JR has a filter cleaning/oiling kit that works great. K&N has a similar one for their filters and there's no reason it shouldn't work. As someone said, though, it might change the color of the filter a bit. (I gather the JR oil is bluish, the K&N reddish.)
