What is the fine for not driving around with a front license plate? i just took mine off and it looks so much better without it on, but i now need to get some bumper plugs now. (btw, damn dealership put some scracthes on my front bumper when installing the front plate bracket).

do fairfax county cops make it a big deal?

If I'm not mistaken, can't you run with the front plate behind the windshield on the passenger's side?

lets see, I am in VA, the behind the windshield thing is also illegal, I had mine there on my integra and never got a ticket for it.
If an officer stoped me for anything else they would just tell me that they were going to warn me about the license. Don't bother with it, max is probably a $50 and it won't be on your record or won't deduct points. That is my guess, but like I mentioned most police don't even care.

I don't have a front plate on, and the ticket fines vary from locality. I just got a ticket down here in York County, the fine was $25 (+court costs). That is no prob, I would pay that every month to keep a front plate off...

Bingo! The plugs are either already in your "secret compartment" under the wind diffuser...or they're in some nuts-n-bolts tray at the dealership .

Bottomline: You paid your money for all of the car...so if they didn't give you all of the car, just stop by and tell them that they need to provide you with a set of matching bumper plugs that they failed to leave with you (again, *if* they aren't already in your secret compartment).

PS. If dealer is a real jerk...you can order the matching plugs from H AND A accessories (a www.s2ki.com board sponsor) for ~ $4.

Just so you're aware, I've heard a few stories of VA people parking in DC and getting a ticket for no front plate while parked.

DaveZ is correct. A few months ago I was parked on Wisconsin near M street and got a $50 ticket for no front plate. I tried to fight it but was turned down. Also, if the fine isnt paid within 30 days it doubles. So be careful in the district.

I wouldn't put the plate on the windshield cuz if cops see it, it will remind them that you don't have it on the bumper.
