Looks like sales # this year will be lower than 2005 after all those nice 'touchs' for 2006 model.

this is funny....do people even bother to look at the numbers before posting something like this....so you say oh no...sales are way off for the 2006...except you can't really say that....why? Barring the month of june sales for the s2000 are pretty much the same for 2005 and 2006

Difference they sold 78 more cars through may in 2005 versus 2006 ~-2.5% pretty minimal difference.

Now the June difference is large but who knows if it is significant. They sold ~260 more cars in june of last year. Is that meaningful or just natural flucation. Honda may end up selling 250 more cars in july in 2006 than 2005. Then it would be roughly a wash. Plus who knows if this discounts were more because the dealers were dumping old stock with the 2006 coming in.

Plus you also have to factor the gas price issue. We're seeing pretty high gas prices. For many the s2000 is a second car that get's only modest gas milage. Anything that isn't great on gas is being influenced. Hard to say what the final tally would be but it wouldn't suprise me to see sales similar and if they do end up lower I would wager gas prices has more to do with it than anything.

I hope Honda doesn't sell a single one for the rest of the year. Stop production now as far as I am concerned.

Looks like Acura's got a BIG problem on their hands, down 8.2% YTD and 19.4% for the month. They don't have a single hot car in their portfolio right now. The only car not losing sales is the TSX, which is due for a refresh.

I was at the Honda dealership today and all their MY06's have sold. They have a used AP1 on display.

I don't know what most folks expect to get from a performance car as far as fuel economy goes.

In the real world, I get about the same average MPG from my second car, the S, as I do from my primary car, a Scion xB.

Perception might lead one to think the Scion would be the gas sipper of the two.

Maybe the extra cost of premium over regular? But I would think that cost of a new S might be more of a factor.

I get the impression that 05/06 sales are down, relative to 00/01, when the sales rate was about 10,000 units per year. Not surprising, given that MY 06 is the 7th year of production of a nearly unchanged model. Good as this vehicle is, it ain't new any more, and some drop off is to be expected. Whether or not an 07 model appears, the total production is nearly ideal: enough made that parts availability for my 02 will be good for many years; few enough that the car is novel and still draws appreciative glances from strangers.

Strange that 2000 was such the low selling year. When I looked at the car then it was getting above MSRP and I walked. I would have thoight that would be the biggest selling year. Maybe production was lower?
