Default Just Add Boost

Hey everyone, I just found the site, and it is great to see there is a S2000 fanatic site. Truth is, I am still S2k-less, but I will be picking one up in February. I am trying to decide right now everything I will be doing to the car, and one of the main things is how I want to drive that engine to at least 350HP. I have seen quite a few superchargers out for the car, but so far, only one turbo, which I cant even find info on. I picked up the Hyper-Rev book for the S2k, and it has a ton of good info, which I am sure would answer all of my questions, as soon as I learned to read japanese. Until then, I am asking the people who have actually added boost to their cars to give me suggestions on the best way.

I have thought about a supercharger, but I think the added resistance of the belt would slow me down a little off the line in such a small engine, whereas the turbo would have no resistance. I know the supercharger spools instantly, but I am guessing with the right tires, I could drop the car into gear around 3k rpm's, and with a good GT turbo, it would be spooled pretty well by that time. I am sure a few of you on here have turbos and superchargers, so any info you can give me is much appreciated.

My goal, is to make my passenger look like this: (had to use the smiley, it's new to me)

350HP.... that is probably asking quite a bit from a stock F20C. Speedcraft out of Jacksonville, Fla makes a turbo kit.. fairly decent one from what I have seen. Comptech and Vortech make the superchargers, while I am sure others have and are trying to out do the other. PSI alone probably wont be enough.. some major internal parts should be considered when approaching your quest.

Suggestion.... buy a used one.... do what you want... see if you can keep it running... oh.. and bring your checkbook!

I have also talked to KMS engines about doing the internal work. I would also be adding cams, pistons, conrods, etc. to reach my goal. I really just cant wait until February when I get the car.

Let me get this straight, you want to drop over $35,000 on a new vehicle with an engine that already puts out 120 HP/Liter. Then you want to spend the money pushing the engine to 350 HP (175 HP/Liter). If you wish to have the vehicle in one piece for more than a couple of months, you will need to upgrade the transmission, rear differential, wheels, tires, exhaust, etc... ($10,000-$15,000?). After that, you will have a new car with a voided warranty and serious reliability issues (keep a supply of oil in the trunk). If that's the kind of power you want, buy a car that comes with closer to that amount of power. By the time you put that much money in the car, you may as well have bought a new Corvette convertible, Boxster S, M Roadster, or used Viper to begin with and saved yourself a lot of headaches.

Just my opinion, flame away mod proponents.

As cool as 350hp in an s2k sounds, BDmonk is right. Buy the z06 caus eyou obviosuly have the $. You outhandle an s2000, mid to low 12s in the 1/4 and its warrentied. If you have so much $ that it doesn;t matter, then you should be purchasing a f50. Honestly, its going to wind up being a 60000 dollar project that although cool as hell, will be a headache and a half. Mike

Hmm, Vipers, I see them too often, Ferraris are around too, Vettes are daily sights, same with Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, etc... Who has a S2000 that can beat them though.. nobody. That is why I chose the car I did.

There was a thread on here in the last couple of days. Something about the owner of Speedcraft changing the name of his company or something like this so even if you do find the web site, it's not certain if that info would be contemporary.
