As far as parking, like everyone else said, park away from most cars, even if you have to walk a bit more. I got a horrible dent in mine from someone opening their door way to hard. I have parked all over Chicago with no one ever trying to jack my stuff, even overnight. Depends on the neighborhood tho. As far as driving aggressively, don't push it too hard until you know the car very well, especially right now in the cold. Once spring comes around, come with us to some auto crosses to learn more about the limits of our car. I know we sound like a bunch of old men, but we have been in your shoes, it's exciting to have an amazing car like the S and it can get the best of us at times.

Wow you got an s2k as ur first car...? Only.thing I'm.gonna tell u is u better be careful when u drive it. I started off with a rwd and I can't even count how many times I had a few close calls. Everything from the back end stepping out to the car almost rolling over. It's fun yeah, but you have to be careful not to get over confident. I was your age once and I thought I was the king of driving. I look back and wonder how I didn't crash or worse. That doesn't mean u can't drive I'm sure you can. You might say you wont drive crazy but trust me that's not the case. I said the same shit and I ended up with 2 speeding tickets lol. Take things slow. You will learn how to drive in time and eventually you will become the master of your car. Drive safe

Dangerous choice for a first car, especially if you get an AP1 (2003 and before). The AP2 (2004+) have more built in understeer which isn't a bad thing for a young driver.

S2000 Snap oversteer
In the rain

Also, missing a shift can be disastrous

What is your insurance going to be like?
Me: 32 year old man, clean record. I called in to get a quote on a 2005 S2K as a second car to be driven on weekends only and they quoted me the same rate as my d.d. 2011 Mustang GT. The car is 7 years old and 50% of the cost. I'm guessing that there are a lot of claims on them driving up the rates.x

I hate to say it but its just a matter of time before this kid gets his car wrecked or vandalized. There are a lot of jealous people and they will mess your stuff up because you have what they want. Watch out for angry chicks too.

You are also 16 and its only a matter of time before you show off and your parents will have to buy you a new one.

Wow, we sure are busting your balls.

Really, be careful.

Read through every page of this just to see what can happen in a split second: My link

The s2k is a blast, but will mess you up if you don't respect it.

I'm 17 now and got my s2000 as my first car when I turned 16. The car is a blast to drive man. Really enjoy it just be careful in the rain it slides out very easily. Also, you are like me and have a spare car for inclement weather and snow! Having two cars is great when its, well, not nice enough for the S! lol. But jeez everyone in here ripping on you man. I paid for both of my cars, insurance, gas, and maintenance. Not every kid who has an S2k is spoiled. thanks

We are busting on him to prevent him from ruining his car. There are tons of threads about people wrecking their s2000 because they lost control. Because you paid for your car you probably respected it a lot more. We aren't hating on you.

You are 17 so you better slow down too.
