Ok integrale, I'm sorry -- I have no idea what came over me. I saw your username and some deeply-buried resentment just came bubbling up from who knows where, and it was uncalled for. My apologies!

i know this is going to turn into a flamefest but that's not what i'm trying to do here.

now, here's what happened, i called a honda dealer to drive a used one with 18k miles cuz i wanted to really push it and see how fast it was.. when i got there they had trouble with their used car key dispenser and the guy said 'let's take a new one out'.

this one had 80 miles, so obviously the engine wasn't broken in..

Oh my bad, I honestly didn't think you had gotten beyond high school math (let alone English), so I figured you were thinking "integral" etc.

Some of you people are getting a bit too passionate over this topic. The horse has been beaten to death.. SEVERAL times.

So it doesn't feel that quick, we all know that it is. If torque and straight line acceleration were the only things important to me, I would've gotten an Fbody/Mustang/Lightening.

Honestly, I felt the same way Matt did about the S when I first drove it. I was unimpressed, even if I was also coming from a 2000 Si. Both cars felt about the same off the line but once VTEC kicked in, I KNEW the S was much MUCH faster even without the "kick you in the ass" torque.

But I didn't buy the S2k just for the quickness, it was the whole package that sold me. Just look at the S, there are very few cars out there that are as beautiful and quick for under $35k. Handling is amazing and its a convertible!

Even with all it's quirks and flaws, it is still an amazing car that rewards you with every mile you drive it.

And Integrale, don't take any of the things that some of the members say to heart. We have a lot of passionate S2k owners, me included..

Are you playing dumb or are you really dumb? Given two cars that are the same, including gear ratio and weight , the one with more torque will accelerate faster. Horsepower has nothing to do with acceleration. Horsepower determines sustainable top speed, how fast you reach that speed is a completely different matter. Go back to high school and read your physics book this time around if you don't believe me.

Horsepower has nothing to do with acceleration.
This, of course, is the trouble with a little bit of knowledge. Power is everything. If it were not, you could accelerate the car yourself - just dump the engine and put a crank in the cockpit connected to the tranny input shaft. You could easily apply, say, 200 lb-ft and thus out-accelerate a normal S2k. Uh, wait, you say you can't spin the crank fast enough while applying all that manly leverage? Of course not - you can't provide the torque fast enough (power).

But you can provide MORE TORQUE than the S2k engine ever could!

People speak of the great 'low end torque' of vehicles like, say, Lightnings. But what you actually feel is their low-end power, not torque. If they only had torque, you wouldnt' go anywhere at all.

Excuse me, but what magazine do you prefer?

Car and Driver is the only magazine I can stand to read, because the others lack content and straightforward opinion.

Just because their test results aren't consistent between cars they test and tracks they test them on has nothing to do with hypocracy.

Oh...and re-read your first sentence...go back to school and learn some grammer
Buahahahahha. This thread is too funny.

Do you have any idea how moronic you look trying to insult someone about their own GRAMMAR without even knowing how to spell the word GRAMMAR?

Master's Degree??
