How easy is the hardtop to remove/install after the initial installation? I want one, but I am not sure I want to install it the first time myself. I certainly want to remove/reinstall it in the years to come

all of these hard top owners...you're making me so jealous. i hear the installation isn't that easy and that it requires some drilling...is this true? how would the rear defroster work? what about a toggle switch for the rear defroster?
There is no drilling involved but you do have to take a metal punch and pound on a couple of places to make a indentation for the rear latch bracket to fit. Maybe the '04s have this already to go but I doubt it. The initial install of the kit takes about 2.5 hours. On an '04, I think the HT comes with some kind of diverter switch so that the rear defroster works off the same switch you use for the soft top defroster. You hook up the HT defroster via a coiled wire.

Putting the HT on and taking it off is a 2 person job. Myself, I built a pulley system over where I park the car in the garage. I drive under it and lower or raise the top. Once raised to the garage ceiling, it just stays there for storage.

My MY04 didn't come prepounded Install isn't really that hard but you will need a second set of hands to put it on and take it off. The instructions are pretty straight forward but if you really don't feel comfortable doing it you can always invite a local HT owner over to help, or maybe organize a tech day for locals....

That sounds pretty sweet XViper.

I may try installing it the first time myself, my dad is very handy, I USED to be handy (not sure if I would owe my dad a S2000 weekend, hah). I wouldn't need to take mine off and on that much. On in November, off in March. I have more storage space than any single man could possibly need, so I can store it somewhere not in my garage.
