Default Just a Question?

Hey guys I have been debating for a while on what year S2000 to get and I am a little confused about what motor comes in the 2004 model. I was also wondering in your expert opinions whick of the two motors are better. I will eventually be putting a turbo in it if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

2004 has 2.2L

2000-2003 AP1 F20C 2.0L 9000 redline

2004+ AP2 F22C 2.2L 8000 redline

2006+ has drive by wire throttle

I prefer the F20C engine but the AP2 transmission.

AP2's have more usuable power at lower revs so you don't have to beat on it to have fun!

the only difference is a small increase in displacement with the 2004 engines.

this provides more torque in the low/mid range.

the downside is a lower redline, 8k rather than 9k.

neither is better than the other...one just has a little more kick in the low end.

if you're going turbo...then it really wouldn't matter which engine you get.

Does the 1000rpm difference make that much of a difference in the long run or is it worth it to loose the rpm to get the low end power?

I would assume the 2.2 would be better for boost since you can cram just a little bit more fuel and air in there. I have an F20 so I wouldn't really be able to say much about the 2.2.

If you like to rev a lot then I'd go F20. It's more preference than anything. Try driving and F20 and an F22 and see which you like... Since it will be you driving the car. I'm more partial to the F20 though.

Then again you want an 04 so that would give you no choice in engines unless your going to get another engine for kicks.

It is going to be interesting to see how long this thread survives in UTH.
If it wasn't posted by a woman /girl it wouldn't have a much of a chance.
