Default K & N CIA install question

Question for anyone using K & N CAI. Is it necessary to cut a hole in the fender panel for air intake ? The Honda speed shop that installed mine says no, and also that it is not necessary to reinstall the splash pan. Anyone agree or disagree. Does your K & N make a humming sound ?

You're talking about the K&N aircharger I suppose? If so, no ... You don't need to cut anything or remove the air guide. Yes, it makes a humming noise because of the filter design. Nothing abnormal.

But if you're talking about the Tyhoon kit, then I'm giving you a wrong heads-up.

SSS O1: Thanks for the reply. I should have said K&N Typhoon, and I took off the right wheel today and looks like the installer did cut out a small section of the fender liner so the tube would fit. Don't know why he said cutting was not necessary. Thanks again.
