Bought it for $50 thinking... ah might as well... the unit feels and sounds exactly like the stock unit. At least its a decoration when I open up the hood.

decoration? did you remove the airbox? if so, that's a definate loss in 3-4hp, no gain there.
gain with an aftermarket filter? probably not, but its all the little thigns that add up to a better running and performing car.
