Kayak Rack
I know I could tow a light weight trailer & my kayak but storing a trailer is not convenient for me.
So, I was wonderring if anyone has thought about a way to create a rack that would hold a 7.5 foot long kayak & gear. The gear can be placed inside the kayak.
It could attach to a trailer hitch in the back but I'd think that it would really need more than 1 anchor point and the added weight wind resistence would have to be managed closely to prevent the head lights from blinding oncoming drivers and to prevent the whole thing from acting like a huge lever and ripping things apart.
Total weight of the kayak & gear is probably 75 lbs and could catch a lot of air at highway speeds.
Thanks for your thoughts/info.

I'm thinking not a great idea. The S is just not a car that should be or was made to tow anything. Even states so in the owner's manual. If you're determined though . . .
Trailer in a bag
There are other smiliar products out there, but this is one of the most compact I've seen. Know a guy that has one, it works.

Have you ever tried inflatables? I have a Stearns B507 professional grade kayak. If you've never tried inflatables, I would give it a shot. My inflatable and gear fit right in the trunk. Other than that, I think your better off taking the truck on the kayaking trips. If you go in NC by chance then I can see why you would want to take the S2000 due to the awesome roads.

Smokee,
Thanks for that link, that helps with the trailer storage issue. That is a good option, there is even a local rep that I can talk too. My guess is that while the S2k is not made for, the autox guys seem to have no problems with their trailers and mine would be a whole lot lighter.
Gche37,
My wife and I love the Nantahala river. We went 6 times last fall, it is only about 1-1.5 hours from The Dragon and I was able to do both in one weekend!! Great mountain biking nearby too check out Tsali trails. I have not checked out inflatables since I already have a boat.

Stu,
That makes total sense. I was curius about suction cup damage. Maybe having the black tape on my S and the Scotchguard film will take care of that issue. "J" hooks etc. seem to be pretty straight forward too.
Do you know of any Raleigh fab. shops?
Thx again,
