Key stuck in CF hood

I can open the hood now but the key is stuck still. Purchasing new latches

I've seen these locks sold for under $5 and over $30. I suspect those not made of stainless steel will be prone to rust especially since the key opening is sitting facing up to catch rain and dust.

Is there any reason for these latches and locks? Does the OEM cable latch not work? Just curious.
