Default Keyless entry transmitters

This is a duplicate thread I am posting this in Electronics as well. Thanks for any help.........

Bought a 01 as a lease return, and of course, no keyless entry transmitters were turned in by the PO. Dealers want $80-$90 for a new one. Since I have the instructions from this board on how to program a new transmitter into the S's computer, does anyone know if any of the universal transmitters for car alarms that sell at Best Buy, Circuit City for about $30 can be made to work on the S2000?

Or does anyone know what frequency they Honda ones transmit at, as that may help if I decide to buy a universal and try it out. Or how about if the one Honda uses is used by another japanese manufacturer that may sell it cheaper?

Many thanks in advance.

there are a couple of websites that specialize in new and refurbed factory transmitters. i have used one company, in particular, for several appplications, and have been completely satisfied.

i don not wish to violate the spirit of sponsorship on this site, so I won't post the name. you can do a google search or PM me. key words are keyless, ride and dot com

i think that the honda keyless fob is about $60 and it includes good instructions and telephone support.

Look in the For Sale forum, Guys are routinely selling them for $ 25 or less. Just make sure if you have the dealer insalled alam you get the proper remote thay are different. I bought a regular one not realizing there were two different types.

Make sure the numbers on the back of the remotes are the same. Also try Ebay. I seen a few on there cheap.
