keyless entry transmitters different than OEM alarm transmitters?
So does the OEM alarm come with its own additional transmitters? If so, are these different than the keyless entry ones (that come with all S2000s)? That's what I gathered from a search, but I wanted to confirm it.
Technically, they're different, but are nearly identical. The "Trunk" button on the door lock remote is labeled "Option" on the alarm remote. Otherwise, they are the same. I'm not sure if they are interchangable.
so, in other words, if you DO NOT get the alarm, you still get keyless entry with a remote that looks identical to the alarm remote, expect that the trunk button actually has a picture of a trunk??
if you get the alarm, the remote "operates" both the alarm and the keyless functions?
also, i assume there is no panic button on the "just keyless" remote??
so simple, yet so confusing

ps. i thought the alarm was standard - maybe here in canada it is - that's why this question never occurred to me....

i have the OE alarm, but only one remote that operates the keyless and arms/disarms the alarm.
They look very similar but the do function slightly different.
As Dookie stated, the "Trunk" button on the original keyfobs are labelled "Option" on the keyfobs that come with the Honda alarm system. The "Option" button, in combination with one of the other buttons, allows you to enable and disable an audible alert when you lock/unlock the car doors (i.e. the car's horn sounds or the siren, if installed, chirps in addition to the lights flashing). The "Option" button also functions to open the trunk just like the original keyfobs.
If your car has the Honda alarm system, you can still use the original keyfobs. They will still function to unlock/lock the doors and trunk, however, they will not disable the alarm. This makes them useless.
The control unit for the alarm system is programmble and can accept codes from multiple keyfobs so it may be possible to program the control unit to work with the original keyfobs. Four keyfobs is an overkill though. I just ues the keyfobs that came with the alarm system.
