I'm following your thread and hoping your problem does not end up like some of those in the "short block replacement thread." referenced in my sig.

There is no way that the sound is a normal sound; to be honest, it sounds like complete shit when its driving and idling

I doubt that the valves are out of spec at this stage. Over head cams tend to make some noise. This is totally normal.

You mentioned in your first post that the noise you refurred to came about suddenly and then became progressivly louder. The S2000 makes various noises which is normal, but when you start hearing noises that were not present before, that is not normal.

A tick, tick, tick would be the cam followers which is normal. On the other hand, a clack, clack, clack (like the sound of a card in the spokes of a bicycle wheel) is a totally different scenario.

I had a 67 Plymouth that made a clack, clack, clack sound that eventually spun a bearing. Hopefully it's not a rod. Just make sure you check the oil often and if you experience an engine failure, it should be covered under warrenty.

mine just starting knocking like this today, like the baseball cards in the spokes sound. i'm taking it in on monday it sounds like it's coming from the intake manifold, maybe intake valves? if i need to get them replaced can i pay the difference from oem and put in spoon valves?

hey chad, so what was the outcome. I wish you had called nate or myself about this. Hopefully honda will cover it, but the dealer here is a bit reluctant at first, so if they give you any trouble just keep fighting them. It may just need a valve adjustment, lets just hope that is what it is.well let me know if you need any help or just let me know how it went
