Is it normal when you put in first or reverse to hear a knocking sound from behind,i suppose the differential?Only when you start to go, one or two knocks.

Hmm,

Is it the rear brakes? It could be the pad shift.

Brakes most likely. No need to worry.

I get the exact same thing. It's definitely not the brakes.

Not sure. I know that when I WASH my car, apply the ebrake, and put it away for the night, when I first back out of the garage a get a clunk. No other time does it do this. I know mine can't be the dif.

Have sombody get in the car and back out, while you kneel by the rear tires. Hopefully you will discover it is the brake pad clunk.

I thought I read in one of the forums about TSB 02-056. I'll see if I can dig up the link...

EDITED: 12/2 11:06

It's actually TSB-046. Here is the thead on it. Look at the last two images in the first post. Could be worth investigating.

No knocks here in either of the situations described.
