knocking when you go first and reverse!
I get this thing where usually if I'm at a standstill in neutral, depress the clutch, and push the shift level toward 1st gear, I get the sense that there's a big mechanical thingamajig lurching forward somewhere in my drivetrain -- it's very pronounced and I never thought much of it until a fellow S2K owner said "what's wrong with your tranny, something thunks every time you go into 1st at a light". I don't think I get this when going into reverse. Any idea what this is, and if it's a problem or an indication of one? I've got 45k on my car, no major problems yet.
Steve - I get the thunk going onto first gear a lot sometimes. I'm pretty sure a lot of other owners have this too. We'll have to compare cars teh next time.
As far as the knocking sound from behind, every time I pull my car out f the garage, I hear it once. I'm pretty sure it's the brakes. I think someone once posted that our brakes actually do a self adjustment when rolling backwards. It might've been Prolene.

So far that seemed to be the only unsolved technical problem with the S2000, but thanks to the link in this post I hope I can get my car repaired. I've had that sound for more than 1 year, and 3 different garages in France tried to solve it, without success. They changed almost everything in the back of my car - transmission, shafts, pads, wheels, etc...
At least I got a 1 yr warranty extension because my car spent 5 months in total in these garages!
