My conv. top latches have started to rattle when I drive over small bumps and lane divider dots. Will tighten them help?

Anyone else?

BTW, from the other thread, I've met plenty of WHITE TRASH that weren't white. I don't think it's a prerequisite.

I am hoping that Glenn will post pictures he took of my latches. Basicly you need to put a shim into the plastic around the latch.

I used some vinyl strips I had lying around. You only need a little. NO MORE RATTLE!!!!!!!

Glenn where are you? I will poke him with a stick and see if he twitches.

I believe the shims are placed between the plastic covering the metal latch and the plastic, as the plastic vibrates against the metal.

Guys, can you tell me - is the roof up or down when you hear the rattles.

If it is down then I found the best way to fix this was to stick a little block of self adhesive tape on the roof frame where the two 'halves' of the roof meet after they have hinged in half. You'll work out where I mean because Honda has stuck a little clear plastic tape on the roof frame already. You stick the foam tape on the 'other' side of the hinged frame where it meeets here - you'll find there is a little plastic platform where the frames touch. Sorry its kind of hard to describe!

Given that my roof is down most of the time I find the tape becomes compressed after a couple of months and then needs replacing but it works weel and you know when its time for replacement because you'll hear those ratttles again! Best of luck.

Ok... Here I am!!!

Here is a picture of

Pinky's Top Latch Rattle Fix

Pinky can expain this better, but what he told me was to take a piece of vinyl and shim it in between the metal latch and the latch cover.

Pinky is pointing at the vinyl. That's it!

Pinky do you want to add?

And thanks for the vinyl strips!

Thats the trick! You can actually see the strip better on the opposite side from where im pointing but its that stuff sticking out of the plastic lip. Maybe I should start a gb for the vinyl strips!

Side note: Damb I got an ugly finger!
