Same thing happend to the supras. Before they got really popular at hitting 35K used, you could pick one up for the low 20's. AS the price drop, a younger less educated, cultured, more ganster attitude was seen at the supra meets.

guys... come on.. "we are family~~~"
s2000 is still s2000
to our point of view maybe we can't accept the fact that some people went crazy style w/ their S.
but other enthusiasts who don't have a S might think a little different than us..

Another thing, Rick is not being hypocritical at all. His products are subtle, functional and don't' distract from the car. I can totally understand where Rick is coming from and other S owners should be alarmed as well. The reason is this, when these ricers get an S and trash it, then it lowers the public opinion of the car, which translates into less resale value. It is like purchasing a house in a nicer part of town. Most areas have building codes ie. a certain percent must be brick, exterior colors, etc. They do this, so some idiot doesn't move into their neighborhood, paint their house pink and make the whole area an eye sore; thus lowering everyone's property values. Face it, 99% of the body kits, neon, big wings, etc are the "pink yard flamingos" of our little neighborhood.

I agree that this is a very interesting debate. Personally I don't like "aggresive" style body kits, huge aluminum wings, and tons of stickers cladding the vehicle. But then again, my paradigm to what is nice would completely be different from others. Everyone has their own personal preferences.

What questions me is about the manufactures that makes such wild looking kits that (In my honest opinion) doesn't compliment the factory design. I'm for one appreciates the car for what it is. For example, the OEM kit flows with the lines and doesn't disrupt the flow of the design of the vehicle, but then again, that's my own opinion. It just ridicules me with how some of these kits were designed. Let's face it, there has to be some kits out there that just makes you disgusted.

I'm not just talking about body kits, but other modifications as well. I truly believe that modifications should serve a purpose other than aesthetically.

It also goes to show how much influence the media has to do with the mentality of some people. Movies like F&F to me is a joke! But look how much influence it has caused with people that is in this type of market. I understand that this has been going on much earlier, before the movie came out, but look at where this market is at now. It was never this wild.

There's nothing that can be done about a situation like this, but I understand everyone's views and I had just wanted to share mine. Aloha and Happy Driving to everyone!

If I wasn't such a free speech advocate, I'd be bombarding the mods with PMs to kill this thread. I've rarely seen a more hypocritical opening post and the nimbys (waa, we should control posters better, its not like it used to be, etc., etc.) are getting on my nerves. But hey, you're all entitled and I didn't have to read it, but take a good look at what has made this site what it is and think about how useless and boring it would be with all those people whose post maturity and taste you question.

Shame on you Rick - I'd expect better from you. Lesson learned, expectations lowered. TIA

ok i have a few things to say here....
1. i am 19....young and NOT STUPID OR IMMATURE! yes i take part in the color wars but it is all in good fun and i have gotten some great laughs outta some of the photos that have been posted....not all young people are"ricers" i dont have the money to be a ricer, but i do have some things that may consider me to be. RICKS s badges, RICKS console cover....hmmm im seeing a trend here RICKS and rice in the same sentence.....not that i am downing his products for if i was then i would not pay for them, but i am saying that for one who is loudly stating his opinion about rice should check out his own backgroud first.....also i belive that rick himself will be joing US AT HOT IMPORT NIGHT!!! HEAVEN FOR ALL RICERS!!!
2. about the altezza lights.....um i belive that the s2000 comes STOCK with them so i guess that we are all guilty there.
3. to each his own, i have seen some beautiful body kits on many differnt cars including the s2000...some people go all out on their car and i give them alot of credit to show their style with their car....just how each of us wear differnt clothes and listen to differnt music...
4. this is my favorite site on the web....the people are great besides a few who i have had some not to great experiences with but besides that i love this site and get plenty of information from it.....(and i am sure someone is going to flame me because i am not a member...but go ahead i do contribute to this site and community i am an active member in the del val/ PCG groups)
5. being a female on the site...and a young female at that there are certain things that do not sit to well with me but you know what thats life there are going to be things that you dont like you can either let them bother you or contine walking down the street and being yourself without bad influence from others....there are a few members whos signatures contain images that are on the sexist side....there is a picture in this thread that has caught my eye....and ya know what to each his own...
in other words everyone has the right to show who they are in any way they choose, as long as there is no harm to others in the proccess. some may not accept this but as long as you are happy with yourself and your car in this situation thats all that counts........

jzr's BAOW:

Function over form. Read about it at nsxfiles.com. The latest iteration is remote adjustable.

Personally, nothing goes on my car unless it improves the performance...
