Ok, I have seen enough. I am not going to read any more stupid posts to this thread. I think this is a perfect example. If you want "pay to play" I am sure most of your sponsors would feel the same way and take their sponsorship money somewhere else. I, a non paying "guest", have spent over $1k purchasing items from site sponsors. I would not "pay to play" on this website. Instead, I support it by buying goods from its sponsors. This works on radio and tv. Why not on the internet? If you choose to "pay to play" then fine. If you choose to charge everyone to "pay to play" kiss your beloved website good-bye! Your sponsors will go where your "guests" go... To another website.

Back to the topic! This thread should have been killed half way down the first page. All opinions/comments were made by then. All others are repeats.Maybe I am a fool for reading it this far.

Charlie (and others) may be right about restricting the site to those owners (and guests?)interested enough to pay the (nominal) fee. I'm torn on this one, but tend to agree it would probably weed out most of the rude and crude posters. I am all for freedom of expression, but within the limits of common respect for others, which is sometimes lacking here. Overall, as I've said before, this is a GREAT site.

I fully agree with you Rick. Unfortunately as all of us have noticed, the price of used S2000's is getting down in to the low-mid $20k range. This is opening the door to a market of young buyers that have a love for the Fast & the Furious. They think huge aluminum wings, gaudy body kits. 20" rims, and altezza tail lights are the coolest thing since sliced bread. A lot of these kids will buy a used S2000 over a new RSX-S or Celica, and kill the spirit of the S2000 with their ricey ways.
Okay, considering that this reply copied above was the very first reply to a post about crudeness and such, I find it offensive that whenever people talk about a certain car and its used car value sinking into a certain realm that suddenly every instance of "poor taste", "Fast & the Furious looks", and such is now because of YOUNGER buyers. NEWS FLASH! NOT EVERY YOUNG PERSON WITH AN S2000 SUFFERS FROM POOR AUTOMOTIVE TASTE!! Quite the opposite. Evidently they have GOOD taste since they BOUGHT AN S2000!! How do you people know that some of those big winged cars you are seeing are not owned by one of your own 30, 40, or 50-somethings??

Example: The actual Toyota Supra FROM FAST AND THE FURIOUS was owned and built by Craig Lieberman who is well past the "ricer boy" age that you all speak of. Guess what, so is the Nissan Skyline that is in the sequel to that movie. Many large winged S2000's and NSX's that I have seen are being driven by members of your older crowd as well.

Sorry if I am coming off harsh or otherwise, but I am 26 years old and tired of dealing with people older than me knocking down young people who realize a dream by buying a certain car. I was lucky enough to get an Acura NSX when I was only 22 years old, and had to deal with the, "...well, now that young people are buying NSX's they are sure to have their value go to hell," and , "...with this new young crowd of NSX owners we can expect stupid behavior". Why is it that when a young person busts their tail to buy their dream car and outfit it with parts that THEY LIKE the ridicule begins? Why don't some of you "older and wiser" people look at yourselves from time to time and realize that young people are not the spawns of all poor taste that you seem to think they are.

Here is something to think about....do you think the owners of the companies that MAKE AND SELL AND DESIGN those kits are all 21 years old? I don't think so. So, looks like the "poor taste" started someplace else. Think about it.

I do agree that some of the body kits and the wings look ridiculous and ruin the cars lines. Some mods tastefully done look good.

My car is stock mostly due to a tight budget. If I had the $$ to do some mods. I don't think I would add a body kit or any thing like that. I would upgrade the stereo system, Change the carpet.

I like the car the way it is. Some mods bring down the value of the car IMHO.

I also agree with not liking the "in your face" type of posts. I really don't think there is too much that can be done with that though....freedom of speech.

Oh really?? Look at this beast on Ebay...especially look at the interior. Note that it was done when the car WAS NEW! One Ferrari Testarossa defaced for you.

The only "bad" posts in this thread are the ones from people suggesting the thread be locked. Perhaps we should burn some books too? (that last question was sarcasm, in case anyone doesn't realize it)

It's freedom of speech folks, one of the things that makes this country a great place. Rick certainly polarized people with his comments, and quite frankly I was pleased to hear him come out with such firm opinions, not only because I agree, but because the "politically correct" faction sometimes wields too much power and we need some divisive commentary once in a while to make things interesting. It's all about taste and opinion, he was careful not to insult any age group ( I have no problem doing so), he merely stated what he found ugly and I humbly suggest there are far more people here that agree with him but who are cautious to enter the fray for fear of being chastised as he was for stating his honest opinion. Yes whether or not to uglify your car is a "to each his own" thing, but it's also anyone's right to come out and say what Rick said. I don't think Rick was attempting to stir up more business for himself through controversy, he was just telling it how he sees it, God bless him for it.
