launch
I kno different people have different theory about launching there cars at the drag strip. since this is my first rwd car i have no idea what rpm should i be at when iam launching it . So if u guy can give me a couple of ideas and what works best for u guys that would be great thanks...............ps iam not a 1/4 mile whore just wanted to kno
6k give or take and sidestep the clutch. Make sure your tires spin. After you launch, feather the throttle so that you stay above VTEC and wait for the tires to hook up. As soon as they do, floor it.
Oh, and prepare for a bunch of wankers to tell you that the s2000 wasn't meant for drag racing.

By the way, the S was not made for drag dracing.
Sidestep is exactly that basically allowing the clutch to fly up and engage as fast as possible and not letting the clutch up with your foot.
In most cars you sidestep to the left because it's more convenient but ours you have to side step to the right under the brake pedal which makes things complicated because of the dead pedal.

I think this should be the way:
1: 6K rpm
2: sidestep clutch, wheels instantly are spinning
3: hold rev above 6k rpm, wait until the tires stop spinning and get grip 4: on that exact moment floor it 100% and go go go

Won't harm? I wouldn't go that far. Doing this on any car is hard on it. This car wasn't intended for this to be done all the time and it will definately take its toll on it over time. For instance, we all know the S2000 has a 0-60 time in the low 5's right? Just because that is the 0-60 time doesn't mean that everytime you drive the car you should try to get it to 60 in the least amount of time. If all cars were drivin at their limit everytime they were driven, no cars would even last 50k miles. So getting to the point....will my car last longer or have less harm inflicted on it than yours since I've done no 6k RPM launches? Very likely. 6K clutch drops may not immediataly inflict damage on your car, but just 1 clutch drop is harder on the car than 20 normal take offs. In the long run, this shortens the life of the tranny, diff, clutch, and the engine.
