Honda seems to do a good job at learning from repair history and correcting in future production.

Although, some of their solutions are not so great...like the ap2 clutch delay valve.
And the 8000 rpm redline

Not sure I agree with the "later MY = better-built car" formulation. My MY06 doesn't have the same high level of fit and finish that my MY04 did. The MY06 has got a lot more squeaks and rattles than the 04 ever did and I had to replace the original battery and a brake sensor (VSA was futzy) at the first oil change (5000 miles).

Nevertheless, I'm completely infatuated with the car.

i was gonna say, for a period of time there it seemed like everyday there was a new thread on a quality issue with the MY06. but of course, i don't think you can go wrong with any model year!

I think best model years are '03, '05 '07. The rest are still good, but corrections are made after changes.

i'd have to agree with the 06 not being the best year. i'm very happy with my purchase, coming from an 03 with about 50k miles. but like someone stated, there are definitley more squeaks and rattles in the 06. and there have been plenty of threads started about the 06, me being one of em'. i guess thats what you get when this was the first year for a lot of changes...dbw, vsa, dash, seats, etc.

things fixed so far: leaking rear tranny seal, missing clip on door sill...and a rattle that they cannot track. all before 4k miles.

I think the 06-07 have a dash that bubbles.

different year s2ks have different features but none have common, glaring, idiosyncratic problems.

sounds good but its true. every car has its own share of quirks but theres no commonality to a big problem in any specific year for the s2k

No one corrected me, so I'm guessing I'm correct about the maintenance? Other than tires and oil changes, the only thing that will need to be done in the next 2 or 3 years will be a clutch job(which I've been told is around 1200)? Assuming its an 04 with around 25k on it. I also realize the brake pads will need to be replaced in that time period, how long do the rotors last on these? Expensive to replace? Any big maintenance items I'm leaving out that need to be done before 80-90k? Thanks so much for the help so far guys.
