oil and fluid/filter changes, that's it...i have a 2004, no oil use and no trips to the dealer at all for warranty work...i wanted the 2004 over the 2003 due to the changes, which you can research....i can recommend 2003-2004 for sure, differing somewhat from each other, i have my preference. look for a clean one, there are plenty out there.

yeah, no bubbles here, but have heard of this. i'm guessing this was something in the newer 06's. i think my 06 is around #5000.

There was no 99. My00 has never had a problem. Routine oil changes and preventative maintenance and you will be fine.
i didn't say that i would stay away from those year models due to problems. My reasons for preferring newer models were due to all the upgrades that have been made that i feel are worth the extra cost of the car. Things like glass rear window, a more agressively tuned ecu, better speakers and tweeters, leather console cover, etc were my reasons for preferring a newer model.

never had even a hint of a problem...

in 7 years, the only fix it has needed was a new battery-

easy to leather the console, and the other concerns are not problems at all. and no way that you can beat a 9k redline!!
ap1 for that reason, in my book

[QUOTE=smurf2k,Dec 28 2006, 10:20 AM] different year s2ks have different features but none have common, glaring, idiosyncratic problems.

sounds good but its true.

^ i have to agree with that guy
but then to go with everyone this is my list of repairs
replaced steering wheel due to bad leather
bad fitment of understeering column
rattle in the right soft top latch which the stealerships said is now on the honda bulletin
yea... those are the only things that come to mind that i have had to get fixed
all in all i think the car is great (except for the lunking transmission)

At 4500mi, my transmission has really smoothed out.
Is this my imagination or have others noticed the same thing?

As a rule of thumb, the newer the car, the more reliable it will be.
This I disagree with, since Honda will no longer need to support the name badge S2000, the final few years they will find ways to cut costs.

Your best bets are 02-03 and 2005
