Least problematic year s2k?
[QUOTE=notyou,Dec 28 2006, 10:46 AM] Not sure I agree with the "later MY = better-built car" formulation. My MY06 doesn't have the same high level of fit and finish that my MY04 did. The MY06
I've owned my 01 since 2003 and have done nothing else but change oil and the diff fluid. I'd agree the newer the fewer problems but it's a Honda dude! It's just like Civic low maitenance!
I have a sc 04 with just under 30K miles. Except for my penchant for changing the motor oil and filter every 2500 miles and replacing a battery, I have had no problems with my car period. Presently, it is in dire need of a new clutch but I am waiting until I complete the additional engine modifications which hopefully occurs next week. As far as design, the only issue I consider bothersome is the poorly designed duel cup holder with a sliding cover within the center of the console. The cup holder design fits very few types of drink containers and unless you have one with a screw on top, the container is likely to fall backward and spill a vew ounces of fluid during accelleration. I just hate it when i lose some of my rum and coke, errr, I mean coffee!
I cannot vouch for any other model year but my 04 is one excellent vehicle that is expertly engineered for superb handling, safety, style, quality, and mantains one of the highest residueal resale values of most every vehicle manufactured today. Oh, by the way, did I mention that these little rockets get up and move when the need for speed arises.
Good luck in your hunt.

Early year S's had cv joint housings that liked to pit. Of course, the AP2's addressed the fact that bloody Americans can't drive by taming the rear of the car. Diff failures were relatively common in the early years because of driving habits and part weakness. Mid-'02 Honda went to 4 oil bolt squirters vice the previous two(never really confirmed this to be paramount). While the AP1's definitely look dated, I'm inclined to favor the '03.
