The "butt-warmers" are available through Katzkins company (I think it's http://www.katzkin.com). I've gotten a cold Chicago winter's ride in a 5th gen Prelude with the full leather treatment, windows and moon roof wide open and no heat coming from the vents....the only source of heat was on my a$$. They kept my body warm...!!!! I could see my breath, yet my butt and my back were very warm....if this is the product you're talking about....I HIGHLY recommend it.

I love a little butt heat in our TL actually. The heater on the S2K full blast usually does a really good job though. Perhaps I just have a warmer ass than you (lets not go there )

I'm dying to know how this works out for you. Where are you going to install the switch?

Tedster, I'm doing this next Fall. Is it Katzkin that's doing it? There are two distributors here. Please keep us informed of the whole experience. Let us know about heater efficiency, problems with electrical draw, ergonomics, etc. I'll probably do my own install if they'll let me. I'm sitting on the edge of my (cold) seat.

This tape is very sticky -- just try removing it from the leather. Yes, the problem is with the cheap carpet -- the fibers are so flimsy, they just pull off. If someone finds some tape that works better, please let us know! In the meantime, we'll send replacement tape to anyone who wants it.

I'm having the butt heat installed by a local (Seattle area) guy that Annie and Ron have used. I'll post a write-up with as many details as I can get, including whatever pictures I can take.

This is what I know so far:

o he's doing both seats, with heating elements for the bottom and back of each seat

o he says the elements are 1/8th inch thick pads that feel like felt

o there will be two switches, with off/low/high setting for each seat; they will be installed in the center console, between the shifter and the stereo door

o he's charging me $400 for all parts and labor

I'll start a new thread when I know more and have pictures.

Sweet. If he's in the Seattle area, making the trip down from Victoria would be worth it for me. (and I defy customs to figure out what, if anything, I purchased. -- "Excuse me, sir, but you look inexplicably cosier and warmer than you did upon entry, pull over there and step out of the car...")

I know you'll know more later, but I am stewing about the details already.

Is he mounting the switches himself?

Can he get into the seat without disturbing the leather?

If the switches aren't particularly attractive, I am thinking that the heated-seat switches from the Accord would do well, and probably not be TOO different in terms of materials and look.

Accord owners: can you take a picture of your heated-seat switches please?

I can barely contain myself. The lack of heated seats was a major disappointment when this car was announced for production. My girlfriend's RX300 has them...and I consider them close personal friends...
